General FAQs
This seems like a huge undertaking. Where do I start?
That’s exactly why I’m here! I’ll guide you through every step, from assessing your collection to completing the project. You don’t have to worry about where to begin—I’ll take care of it for you.
There are so many photo organization apps and services. Why should I choose yours?
Unlike automated apps, my service is entirely personalized and hands-on. I tailor the organization process to your specific needs and provide direct communication and support throughout. I also prioritize privacy and take great care with your photos.
I don’t really look at these photos anyway. Why bother organizing them?
Organizing your photos makes it easier to access and enjoy them whenever you want. It will also make your collection easier to share with friends and family. It also helps preserve them for the future.
On a more practical level, it will free up storage space in your home!
What if I’m not comfortable letting my photos out of my possession?
I understand, and I can work with you to find a solution. I treat every image with the utmost care and handle them as if they were my own. If you’re local, we can arrange for you to be present during the process. If shipping is necessary, I use secure methods and keep you updated at every step.
Why is this service so expensive?
I understand that cost is an important consideration. My pricing reflects the time, care, and expertise I dedicate to each project. If budget is a concern, I’m happy to discuss flexible options or focus on specific parts of your collection.
Can’t I just do this myself?
Absolutely. However, organizing and digitizing photos can be a time-consuming process. My service saves you the hassle so you can focus on enjoying the results instead of spending hours on the task.
I’m not comfortable with my photos being stored in the cloud.
That’s perfectly fine! I can deliver your digital photos on USB drives or external hard drives, keeping your images offline and secure. I only use cloud storage if you specifically request it.
Digital Photo Organization FAQs
How do you deliver my final digital files?
I offer several delivery options: a USB drive, an external hard drive, or a secure cloud link for download. Let us know what works best for you, and we’ll make it happen.
I have a specific way I want my photos organized. Can you accommodate that?
Absolutely! During our initial consultation, we will discuss your preferences. I’ll customize the organization process to match exactly what you have in mind. Whether it’s by date, event, or another system, I’ll make sure it’s done your way.
What is the cost of your photograph organization service?
Pricing varies depending on the size of your collection and the level of detail you want in the organization. I believe in upfront pricing, which is why I work by the project instead of hourly. However, every photo collection is different. Therefore, a “one-size-fits-all” approach to pricing is ineffective and inefficient.
Once I have an idea of the size and scope of your collection, as well as your goals for the end result, I will provide a detailed quote so you know exactly what to expect.
How long do you keep my digital images?
Unless otherwise requested, I keep your digital files for 30 days after delivery as a backup, in case you need them again. After that, they’re securely deleted unless you request an extended storage period.
Can you organize photos by date, event, or custom categories?
Definitely! I will customize the organizational structure to fit your specific needs—whether that’s by date, event, location, or a custom system you prefer. My goal is to create a system that makes it easy for you to find and enjoy your photos.
Aren’t there online tools that can do this for me?
That’s an option, but my service goes beyond what automated tools can provide. AI tools may be able to do something faster, but they are far from perfect. On the other hand, I offer a personal touch, attention to detail, and thoughtful organization. Unlike an automated tool, I care that your photos are preserved and presented exactly how you want them.
Physical Photo Organization FAQs
How do I get my printed photos to you?
There are a few options: If you live within 100 miles of Huntsville, Alabama, I will pick up your photos at no charge (for one trip!). If you live farther than this area you can send your photos via secure shipping. I’ll provide detailed packaging instructions to make sure your items are protected during transit.
What does your photograph organization process look like?
We start with an initial consultation to understand your needs and preferences. Once I begin, I’ll carefully sort your photo collection—whether by date, event, or theme—and document and relay each step to you as I work. Finally, your photos are stored in archival-quality boxes or albums, making sure everything is easy to access and beautifully arranged.
Can I choose the organizational system that works best for my collection?
Absolutely! This is your collection and I want it to be the way you want it! Previous clients have had photos sorted by date, event, or custom systems. I’m happy to work with your ideas or provide recommendations based on what has worked well in the past.
How long does the organization process typically take?
The timeline really depends on the size and condition of your collection as well as your personal preferences. For an average-sized collection (say, a few hundred photos), you can expect it to take about one to two weeks. Remember that there are almost 100 photos in a one inch stack! This means a shoebox packed with photographs contains well over 1000 photos! During our consultation, I will provide a more tailored estimate based on your specific project.

Do you offer photo digitization as part of your service?
Yes I do. Many clients want both the organization of their physical photos as well as digital copies of their favorite images for easy sharing and backup. If you are interested in the service, I’ll work with you to set up a digitization plan that suits your needs. This could include only digitizing select favorites, digitizing a set number (for instance, 25 of the best images from 1992), or digitizing your entire collection.
For more information, visit the Scanning and Digitization Service page.
How do you handle fragile or deteriorated photographs?
Extra care is always taken with delicate or aging photos. I use specialized handling techniques and equipment to make sure each photo is treated gently. However, it is importan to inform me beforehand of all fragile items in your collection. That being said, if I notice any damage, I’ll let you know before handling it further. We can discuss the best ways to preserve and possibly restore your treasured memories.
What types of storage solutions do you use to preserve organized photographs?
I only use archival-quality materials. These may include acid-free boxes, sleeves, and albums that protect and preserve your photos for years to come. If you have specific needs or space considerations, I offer suggestions.
What happens if I’m not satisfied with the organization of my photos?
I want you to be completely happy with our work. If there’s anything that doesn’t meet your expectations, I will make it right by offering revisions to address your concerns. I will work until you’re satisfied with the final result – because if you aren’t happy, I’m not happy.
Scanning and Digitization FAQs
I’m worried my photos might get damaged or lost.
I take every precaution to ensure your photos are safe during the entire process. This includes secure packaging, careful handling, and storage in a controlled environment. Your originals will always be returned in the same condition they were received.
How do I get my photos, slides, and negatives to you?
There are a few options: If you live within 100 miles of Huntsville, Alabama, I will pick up your photos at no charge (for one trip!). If you live farther than this area you can send your photos via secure shipping. I’ll provide detailed packaging instructions to make sure your items are protected during transit.
Do I have to go through all my photos to prepare them for your service?
No. I’m trying to PREVENT frustration with these services – not add to it! You can send your photos as they are, and I’ll scan them in the same order as they arrive. Or if you wish, I can handle the sorting and organization for you.
What types of materials do you scan?
I work with a wide range of media, including standard prints, Polaroids, negatives, slides, and oversized photos. If you have a unique format, feel free to ask—I’m happy to discuss your specific needs.
Do you offer international shipping?
Yes, we offer international shipping to selected countries. During the checkout process, you will be able to see if your country is eligible for shipping. Please note that additional customs fees or taxes may apply upon delivery, which are the responsibility of the recipient.
Photo Editing and Restoration
What is included in your photo editing and retouching services?
This service covers everything from basic adjustments—like color correction, brightness, and contrast—to more detailed retouching such as blemish removal, background enhancements, even person/object removal. Additionally, I can remove tears, stains, creases, and restore missing sections. Each project is tailored to your specific needs. My goal is to make your photos look their best while maintaining a natural feel.
How do you approach photo restoration for damaged or old images?
I begin by carefully assessing the condition of each photo to identify issues such as fading, scratches, tears, stains, or discoloration. Using digital restoration techniques, I’ll gradually repair the damage to you specifications. My goal is to keep the image authentic by preserving the original character.
What file formats do you accept and deliver?
I’m flexible with file formats. Whether you provide us with JPEGs, TIFFs, RAW files, or others, we can work with them. For the final deliverables, we can offer high-quality TIFFs for archival or printing purposes, or JPEGs for easy sharing online—whichever suits your needs best.
Do you offer a consultation to determine the best editing approach for my photos?
Absolutely! We offer an initial consultation where we review your photos and discuss your vision. This helps us understand your specific requirements and recommend the best editing or restoration approach tailored to your goals.
How long does photo editing take?
Turnaround times vary based on the complexity and volume of your project. For basic edits, you might expect a turnaround of a few days, while more extensive restoration work could take up to two weeks. During our consultation, we’ll provide a more detailed timeline so you know exactly what to expect.
Can I request revisions or adjustments after receiving the final edits?
Yes, we understand that your vision might evolve as you see the results. Our standard packages include a set number of revisions, and we’re committed to working with you until you’re completely satisfied with the final product.
What is your pricing model for editing, retouching, and restoration services?
Our pricing is transparent and tailored to your project’s specific needs. I like upfront pricing, whereas many typically charge by the hour. I prefer to discuss options for pricing per image, depending on the complexity of the work involved. After our consultation, I’ll provide a detailed quote so you know exactly what to expect—no surprises!
