Logistical
If you are in the North Alabama area, I will come to you and pick up your collection at no charge… the first time! Any additional trips will be charged by mileage.
If you live outside of the North Alabama area, I still want to work with you! For digital photo services, we can exchange information giving me (temporary) access to cloud services. For printed photographs, please fill out the form on the Contact Page where we can work out the details.
Currently, Image Archive Pro operates out of my home office.
For printed photographs: Your newly organized collection will be shipped back to you in acid-free photograph storage containers. Any digitized photos made from your printed photographs will either be uploaded to a cloud-based storage website or sent to you on a USB or external hard drive. This is, of course, based on your preferences.
Unless instructed otherwise, your files will be kept for 30 days in secure storage as part of our service. Additional file retention services can be requested.
Process
Our process involves:
-Collecting your photos and documents.
-Carefully scanning each item using high-resolution scanners.
-Digitally enhance the images if needed.
-Organizing the digital files into a structured format.
-Providing you with digital copies on a secure storage medium or cloud service.
We organize digital photos by:
-Sorting them into categories based on dates, events, or themes.
-Removing duplicates and low-quality images.
-Tagging and labeling photos for easy retrieval.
-Creating a structured and user-friendly digital archive.age medium or cloud service.
Your photos will be scanned in the order they arrive, if you only require scanning and digitization of organized photos.
If your collection is not yet organized, meaning it still contains duplicates or multiples of the same scene, you can request organization and curating services before I begin scanning.
We prioritize the safety and privacy of your photos and documents by using secure, encrypted storage solutions and following strict confidentiality protocols.
Your materials are handled with the utmost care and are never shared without your explicit permission.
Technical
Generally, we will use JPEG for your photos. This is because JPEG images are compressed and therefore take up less storage.
However, if your intention is to archive photos with as much detail as possible, we can digitize using TIFF. However, this format requires significantly more storage space.
Most photographs are scanned at 600 DPI. For slides and negatives, we range from 1200 to 2400 DPI depending on the customer’s preferences.
