Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to commonly asked questions about Digitization and Scanning Services.
What types of materials do you scan?
I work with a variety of materials including printed photos, documents, negatives, slides, and even oversized prints. If you have something unique, just ask—I’m always open to discussing special projects!”
What resolution or quality options do you offer?
I offer multiple resolution options depending on many factors. These include size, detail, as well as your needs. Typically, printed photos are scanned at 300-600 DPI depending on the size of the photo and the detail involved. For slides and negatives, a DPI of 1200 to 2400 is recommended.
After I’m able to assess your collection, I will be able to help you choose the best option.
Do you provide file format options for the digitized images?
Your digitized files can be delivered in various formats such as JPEG for everyday use, TIFF for archival quality, or PDF for documents. Just let us know your preferred format when you get in touch.
How do you handle fragile or deteriorated photographs?
Extra care is taken with delicate or aging photos. I take extra precautions by using specialized handling techniques and equipment to ensure that each item is scanned safely and carefully.
